Our Beginnings
The Harrison Educational Foundation was established in 1994 by a small group of local residents who wished to enhance the
curriculum/education offered in our schools.
Our Mission
The Harrison Educational Foundation encourages excellence in education by generating and distributing private funds for curriculum
enrichment programs to benefit the students of the Harrison Central School District. The Foundation seeks to achieve its goals by
providing opportunities for creative teaching and learning experiences and to encourage community and district partnerships.
How We Work
The HEF operates independently from the Board of Education. Funds raised by the Foundation are used for special projects and
programs beyond the scope of the school budget. School administrators, teachers and parents are encouraged to submit grant applications.
Decisions are made to fund grants based on the perceived value of the application to its students; there is no favoritism in the choices
of grants to fund. The Grant Committee of the HEF meets annually to review and approve grant applications.
Trustees
The Foundation is always interested in speaking with individuals about becoming Trustees. Please contact us at info@harrisoned.org. |
